FROOM, Michala

As Michala Kettel, she was born in Frederiksberg, Denmark on 6 August 1925, the eldest and only daughter of the two children of Karsten Kettel (1899-1973) and his wife Lilian Agnete née Brun (1903-1982), who married at Copenhagen on 5 July 1924. Michala spent her adult life in the UK, she married at Nødeboon, Denmark on 9 December 1950, John Anthony Parsons (1928-c.1976), a Research Fellow at St Albans, Hertfordshire, and they had three children but the marriage ended in divorce. Michala gained her master's degree in art therapy and is an occupational therapist and began to paint in 1960. She married secondly at St Albans in 1981, Rodney O'Connell Pope (1926-1989). After the death of her second husband she married in 1993, Jocelyn Froom (born 1920), an engineer, and now paints under the name of Michala Froom. A landscape painter, the coasts of Suffolk and Denmark and the Lot Valley of France being her inspiration. She was included in a three artist exhibition at The Halesworth Gallery in 1999. Michala lived at The Old Post Office, Huntingfield, near Halesworth, Suffolk before she moved to 22 Christchurch Road, Norwich.
