GREEN, Gillian

As Gillian Black she was born in London in 1930, daughter of Albert Edward Black (7 April 1897-1951), a thermometer & scientific instrument maker, and his wife Grace Mary née Seeley (30 June 1894-1990), who married at Islington in 1926 and in 1939 were living at 22 Uphill Grove, Hendon, London. Gill studied at Hornsey College of Art under Jesse Cast and Norman James. She married at Battle, Sussex in 1956 artist David Green [q.v.] and works under the name of Gill Green. She has exhibited widely with her husband, including Heffers in Cambridge, Century Gallery; Henley on Thames; Rye Art Gallery; 44 Gallery in Aldeburgh, Suffolk and at Wigmore Hall. They lived at 16 Cherry Tree Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
