GREEN, Gillian

As Gillian Black, she was born in London on 25 November 1930, daughter of Albert Edward Black (7 April 1897-2 May 1951), a thermometer & scientific instrument maker, and his wife Grace Mary née Seeley (30 June 1894-1990), who married at Islington in 1926 and in 1939 were living at 22 Uphill Grove, Hendon, London. Gill studied at Hornsey College of Art under Jesse Dale Cast (1900-1976) and Norman James. She married at Battle, Sussex in 1956 artist David Green [q.v.] and works under the name of Gill Green. Gill has exhibited widely with her husband, including Heffers in Cambridge, Century Gallery; Henley on Thames; Rye Art Gallery; 44 Gallery in Aldeburgh, Suffolk and at Wigmore Hall. They lived at 16 Cherry Tree Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
