HANGER, Neil M

1962 - ?

Born at Dartford, Kent in 1962, son of Derek F. E. Hanger and his wife Gillian née Hurley, who married at Weymouth in 1957. Neil obtained a fine art honours degree at Bretton Hall College of Art, Leeds University 1981-1985. He uses materials which are familiar, often glossy or plastic which can be art just as much as the smudgy and visceral, these are objects that are seen every day which, because we are so familiar with, they go unconsidered. He has had group exhibitions including Crescent Gallery, Scarborought 1984; East, Norwich Gallery, Norfolk 1991; Open Print Show, Contact Gallery Norwich 1996; Forefront Gallery, Ipswich 1998; Slaughter House, Aldeburgh and a solo show at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich both 1999; Holland Park College, Notting Hill, London 2001 and 'Over the River' Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich 2002. Head of Art and Design at Leiston Middle School and lived at Great Glemham, Saxmundham, Suffolk.
