KEBBELL, William Francis Vere

1888 - 1963

During his painting career known as Vere Kebbell. Born at Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on 20 July 1888, son of Charles Kebbell and in 1901, as Vere Kebble, was living at 16 York Road, Hove, Sussex with his 33 year old widowed mother Edith, who was born in Calcutta. Ten years later 'of indendent means' living with his future in-laws, Charles Edward and Eleanor Robertia Myring, at 5 Grange Park, Ealing. He studied at Byam Shaw and at Vicat School of Art. He married at Ealing St Mary church, London in 1914, Hilda Robertina Myring (1892-1958) and had two children, Charles Denys Vere (1915-2002) and Joan Betty [Taylor (1923-1998)]. A portrait specialist and a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1922-1926 exhibiting from 17 Longridge Road, Earls Court, London SW5 two oil paintings 'A Sketch at Burford' and 'Jug-Still Life'. He was also a member and exhibitor at the Pastel Society having other exhibitions at Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers and at the Walker Gallery, Liverpool. In 1939 and artist, still living at 5 Grange Park, Ealing, London and died at Ealing Hospital on 29 March 1963. His brother was Dr Charles Frederick Vivian Kebbell.
