MacFARLANE, Emily Jane

1975 - 1995

Born at Lambeth, London on 17 August 1975, her mother's maiden name was Hughes. A draughtsman, painter and printmaker who spent most of her childhood in Cumbria before her family moved to Felixstowe, Suffolk. Emily studied art at Ipswich where she was noted for her ability, commitment and views. 19 year old Emily was one of the three crew members that drowned at Rump Point, off Padstow, Cornwall when the newly restored 'Maria Asumpta' sailing vessel foundered on 30 May 1995, the two other drowned were 50 year old Ann Taylor of Wallingford, Oxfordshire and 24 year old John Shannon of Queensland, Australia. A memoial exhibition was held at Artworks Studio, Felixstowe in 1995.
