David Quantrill

Born at 4 Old Market Street, Lowestoft, Suffolk on 11 July 1938, son of James Willam Quantrill (2 November 1898-1967), dock labourer, and his wife Elsie Elizabeth née Woolterton (27 November 1901-1949), who married at Lowestoft in 1922. David studied at Lowestoft College of Art. A painter in all media, notably acrylic and is a member and exhibitor at the Beccles Society of Artists. More recently his painting has entered a new phase, having moved on from his more traditional figurative style and his new work displays Davidís exploration of abstract expressionism. He has had solo exhibitions at Frederick Gallery; King of Hearts; Ferini Gallery, Pakefield; Great Yarmouth Ex Galleries and John Russell Gallery, Ipswich and regular shows at the Pastel Society; New English Art Club; Royal Society of Marine Artists; Eastern Open Exhibition, and 'Drawings for All' at Gainsborough's House, Sudbury; Mall Galleries; New English Art Club; Royal Society of Marine Artists as well as many local galleries. He married in 1964 Angela J. Rouse and they live at 18 Carlton Square, Lowestoft. His work is held by Norwich Castle, James Paget Healthcare Trust and private collections in UK., Europe and in the USA.
