Phil Robbins

Born at Stoke Newington, London in 1957, son of Richard Robbins and his wife Wendy P. Dobbs, who married at Greenwich, London in 1952. Philip Studied at New College, Oxford, 1977-1979 gaining an M.A. Zoology; London School of Economics 1980-1981 gaining an M.Sc. in Economics and at Norwich School of Art and Design 1993-1995 for his M.A. in Fine Art. In 1990 was developing silver gelatin emulsions for use in paintings and other art spaces and the following year visiting lecturer at Goldsmith's during which year was the featured Artist in Anglia TV's 'Moving Art' programme. After several other teaching and industrial positions and as a commission artist, in 1996 he co-founded Asylum Studios, Rendlesham Visual Arts Centre, near Woodbridge, Suffolk. An artist and lecturer using a wide range of media, from charcoal on paper, oil paint on canvas to digital technology and has had several exhibitions including mixed shows at Knapp Gallery, Regent's Park, London 1990; Ganz Gallery, Grafton Street, London 1991; Minories Gallery, Colchester 1992; Halesworth Gallery, Suffolk 1994 and solo shows at Wolsey Gallery, Ipswich 2002; The Highgate Gallery, London 2003 and New Cut Arts, Halesworth 2005. He married at Haringey, London in 1986, Emma J. Withers and operates from Low Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
