HARRINGTON, Cyril

1911 - 2009

Born at Oldham, Lancashire in 1911, his mother's maiden name being Holmes. He became associated with Norman Andrews and the Clapham Art Group. Cyril served in the Second World War being taken prisoner duing which time was incarcerated with the notable Douglas Bader. After his demobilisation was a teacher of art and architecture for many years at Giggleswick School, Settle, North Yorkshire and on his retirement came to Woodbridge in Suffolk. Group leader of the Ufford Painting Group in 1987 who held their exhibitions at The Barn, Parkside, Lower Ufford, Suffolk and he exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from 1 Primrose Cottages, Bredfield, Woodbridge in 1979 'Watersplash, Grundisburgh' and from The Flat, Watering Golf Lane, Aldeburgh in 1980 'Derelict Meadow, Ufford'. He later lived at Grove Court, Woodbridge where he died on 28 February 2009, aged 97.
