Jevan Watkins-Jones

Jevan Math Watkins was born at Ipswich in 1971, son of Peter Watkins and his wife Gillian née Griffiths, who married in Samford district of Suffolk in 1966. Jevan studied at Suffolk College, Ipswich 1987-1989, gaining his national diploma with honours in graphic design, and a higher diploma in design communication 1989-1991 and graduated with first-class honours in design studies from Polytechnic of East London 1991-1992 and an Artists in Schools diploma from Anglia Ruskin University 1995-1996. He additionally studied etching with artist Gareth Jones at Ufford Print Studio 1992, Ceramics with Clare Turner 1992-1994. and Tobias School of Art 1995. From 1992-1996 he co-ran the Artworks Studio Gallery, Felixstowe, Suffolk. A versatile artist whose work crosses the forms of drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, video, installation, and performance and has exhibited in Russia, Belgium, Italy, and the U.K. and in 2000 had a retrospective show at Halesworth Gallery, Suffolk. Other local exhibitions were at Open Call, Atlas House, Ipswich; Mandell’s Gallery, Norwich; Ipswich Art Gallery; Sideways, Darsham Nurseries; Minories, Colchester and elsewhere. He married at Ipswich in 2001, Deborah S. Marston née Jones and had his studio at 99 Hatfield Road, Ipswich. He also works under the name of Jevan Watkins-Jones.
