Margaret Wyllie

As Margaret A. Wallace, she was born at 145 Elwyn Road, March, Cambridgeshire in 1939, daughter of Frederick William Arnold Wallace (19 February 1915-1991), a motor driver, and his wife Florence E. née Muffett, who married at North Witchford, Cambridgeshire in 1937. Margaret was brought up on the South Coast and moved to Suffolk as a teenager. Margaret married at Peterborough in 1979, James Wyllie and took their children to live in Corfu, where she attempted to paint the rugged coastline with the incredible light. She studied at the University of East Anglia 1996-2000 graduating B.A. in art and design and went onto handle workshops for children and adults and undertake commissions, she has also collaborated with her husband, Jim Wyllie, by illustrating his series of children's books about Cedric the Seahorse. An artist in oils, acrylics and water colours her work is influenced by the area around her Suffolk home and a Member of the Ipswich Art Society and exhibited from Blue, The Street, Alderton, Suffolk in 1997 'Stones' and in 2006 three line & wash pictures 'Geese Preen in Christchurch Park', 'Work on the Mansion' and 'Views across the Lawn, Christchurch Park'. Her group exhibitions include Suffolk Open Studios and Suffolk Society of Landscape Artists; Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich with a solo exhibition at Haste Gallery, Ipswich. www.margaretwyllie.co.uk
