WOOD-WHITE, Dr Bernard

1890 - 1943

Born at 204 Hamstead Road, Handsworth, Staffordshire on 20 February 1890, eldest child of four of Edward William Wood White, an opthalmic surgeon, and his wife Amelia Pauline née Glydon, who married at Kings Norton, Worcestershire in 1889. In 1911, a 21 year old medical student living at the same address with his parents 55 year old Edward and 51 year old Amelia. He married at Chelsea, London in 1923, Hilary Dorothea Vera Sparrow (31 March 1892-1987). In 1939 Medical Officer for Suffolk County Council at County Hall, Ipswich, living at The Old Vicarage, Falkenham, near Ipswich with his wife Hilary. A member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club 1938-1943 from the Old Vicarage, Falkenham, and exhibited in 1941 six paintings 'Mill Stump, Trimley', 'Ipswich, south from the County Hall', The Abram Rydberg', 'Barge Lying in the Docks', 'The River Finn, Martlesham' and 'Lower Farm, Falkenham', in 1942 four works 'Kirton Creek', 'Malvern Hills', The Old Mill at Woodbridge' and 'Corporation Farm, Kirton' and in 1943 five oils 'Marsh Barn, Falkenham', 'The Bridge, St Ives', 'Falkenham Church from my Garden', 'Willows at Flatford' and 'View of Ipswich from County Hall'. He died at Ipswich in 1943.
