WARNER, Henry Hull

1862 - 1944

Henry Hull Warner was born at Wanstead, Essex on 28 November 1862, eldest child of Henry Warner (c1835-3 May 1896), a railway plant contractor, and his wife Elizabeth Jane Hull (18 February 1836-), eldest daughter of Henry Hull of Uxbridge, who married at Friend's Meeting House, Uxbridge, London on 18 June 1861. Young Henry was not baptised until 29 May 1903 when his birth date is given as 28 February 1862. In 1871, Henry was a 9-year-old living at Woodlands, High Street, Broxbourne, Hoddeston, Hertfordshire with his parents, 34-year-old Henry and 35-year-old Jane with siblings Norah 7, Lilian 5, Claude 3, Ada 2 all born at Wanstead and newly born Charles, born at Hoddeston. Young Henry married at St Jude's, Commercial Road, Whitechapel, London on 27 March 1890, Mary Anne Lewin (1864-), daughter of Robert Lewin of Bengo, Hertfordshire, and in 1901 they were living at Oxford Terrace, 7 High Road, Wormley, Ware with two children Athelstan Lewin (1891-1963), born Woodford, Essex and Gwendolen Marion Warner (1899-1962), after which they seem to have led separate lives. In 1921 Henry was a wholesale stationer's traveller living at 9 Briscoe Road, Hoddesdon, Hoddesdon Urban, Hertfordshire and had two boarders. An amateur painter being a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1928-1930 and exhibited from 16 Westway, Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire in 1927, three oils 'Beside the Still Waters', 'Above Penally' and 'The Mawddach Estuary' and in 1929, four pictures including 'A Sussex Dew Pond'. In 1939, 'retired', and living at 13 Beulah Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent with an Irene Margaret Hughes Hibbard 'Warner' (16 November 1886-20 June 1978) née Brewer, whom he married in 1940. Henry Hull Warner died at Tunbridge Wells in 1944.
