BARTLET, Lucy Elizabeth

1837 - 1911

Baptised at St Margaret's church, King's Lynn, Norfolk on 8 March 1837, daughter of Jonathan Townley, treasurer of the County Courts, and his wife Lucy née Taylor. She married at Lakenham, Norfolk on 2 May 1860, Dr John Henry Bartlet, an Ipswich physician and in 1881 living at 3 Museum Street, Ipswich with her 51 year old husband and they kept four indoor servants. As Lucy Bartlett, a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1875-1876, exhibiting in 1875 two drawings 'Autumn' and one untitled and another drawing in 1876 'Beneath those rugged Elms'. She died at her home Birkfield, Belstead Road, Ipswich in 1911, aged 74 and her husband died at Ipswich in 1917, aged 87. They had no children and he left a legacy for the erection of the Bartlet Convalescent Home at Felixstowe.
