CLARKE, Emma

1857 - 1917

Born at Bury St Edmund’s, Suffolk in 1847, daughter of Reuben Clarke and his wife Mary Ann née Whent, who married at Alpheton, Suffolk in 1840. In 1851 a 3 year old living at 17 Pump Court, St Andrew’s Street, Bury St. Edmund’s with her 30 year old mother Mary Ann, born Alpheton and her five siblings. She seems to have remained in Bury St Edmund’s for her whole life as an ‘annuitant’ or ‘living on own means’. Exhibited at the London Salon in 1911, from Stamford Villas, 23 Mill Road, Bury St. Edmund’s. She died in 1917, she was unmarried.
