FRYER, Kathleen
Kathleen Linda Fryer was born at 33 Fore Street, Ipswich on 18 May 1893 and baptised at St Clement's church, Ipswich on 25 June 1893, second child of Irish born Dr William Francis Fryer (22 March 1858-7 February 1942), a medical practitioner of Mendlesham, Suffolk, and his wife Belinda Frances Wyon (1859-13 April 1927), of Blackrock, Co. Dublin, who married at Booterstown Church, Co. Dublin, Ireland on 5 November 1890 and came to Ipswich, where their youngest child, Nannie was born the following year. In 1911, 17-year-old Kathleen was living at Fore Street, Ipswich with her parents, 53-year-old William and 50-year-old Belinda and five siblings, Nannie 19, William 16, Norah 13, Dermot 11 and Eileen 3, all born at Ipswich. Kathleen registered as a teacher in 1915, and was a member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club 1929-1972 and exhibited from Chestnut House, 11 Fore Street, Ipswich in 1932, two watercolours 'Interior of St John's Cathedral, Brisbane' and 'St Joseph's Thorn, Glastonbury', in 1935 a watercolour 'Cochem An-der-Mosel' other later exhibits included in 1937 'Leename, Connemara' and 'The Backyard, Clonburrin' and in 1941 'Sunshine and Shadow'. In 1939, a teacher still living at 11 Fore Street, Ipswich with her widowed father and an unmarried sister, Norah Patricia (17 March 1898-1988). Together with Margaret Tempest, the author and illustrator of 'Stories from the Bible (1955). Kathleen Linda Fryer died at 92 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich on 9 December 1972, she was unmarried.
