GREENAWAY, Phyllis Maude

1917 - 1994

As Phyllis Maude Rump, she was born at Smallburgh, Norfolk on 19 April 1917, second daughter of Charles Frederick Rump (1853-1924), an artist painter and an estate agent, and his second wife Alice Maude née Mann, who married at Romford, Essex in 1909 and in 1921 were living at Church Street, Cromer, Norfolk, Charles married his first wife Maria Mary Riches (1853-1907) at North Walsham, Norfolk on 14 July 1880. Phyllis married at North Walsham, Norfolk in 1939, Rupert Greenaway (26 February 1898-1978) and they moved to 64 Brunswick Road, Ipswich. As Phyllis Greenaway, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1950-1972 and exhibited from Brunswick Road, Ipswich in 1951, four watercolours 'Silver Morning, Holbrook', 'The Pear Tree in Full Bloom', 'Velvet Glow' and 'Easter Sunshine, Barham Green', she had three watercolours on show the following year 'A Suffolk Farm Track', 'Midsummer Charm' and 'Summer Delight' and was a regular annual exhibitor. In 1968 she exhibited two watercolours, 'June' and 'Farm Track at Foxhall, Suffolk' with her last exhibit in 1969, an oil 'Kersey, Suffolk'. Phyllis Maude Greenaway died at 64 Brunswick Road, Ipswich on 5 June 1994.
