HARLOCK, Mary Louisa

1843 - 1887

As Mary Louisa Wenn, she was born at Bury St Edmund's, Suffolk in 1843, only daughter of George Nassau Wenn, an accountant, and his wife Louisa Mary née Clements who married at Ipswich in 1842. Her father died at Woodbridge in 1849 and in 1851, Mary was a 7 year old living at London Road, Ipswich with her 30 year old widowed mother, who later married Benjamin Page Grimsey, the Ipswich solicitor. Mary married at St Mary Stoke, Ipswich on 10 December 1868, Henry Harlock (1835-1917) of Great Thurlow, Suffolk and in 1881, 37 year old Mary was living at Feltwell Grange, near Brandon on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, with her 46 year old husband, Henry, a farmer of 354 acres and their three children, all born at Feltwell. As Mrs H. Harlock a member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1885-1886, and exhibited from Feltwell Grange in 1884 three paintings 'Landguard Fort, 20 years ago', 'Hunstanton Cliffs' and 'At Feltwell' but does not seem to have exhibited again. She died at Billericay, Essex in 1887, aged 43 and her husband died in 1917, aged 82, both were buried in Ipswich Cemetery.
