HOOPER, Helen Jane Gertrude

1896 - 1986

Born at Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland on 12 August 1896, daughter of Henry James T. Hooper, a fruit farmer, and his wife Lillian Louise née Bayley, who married at St Pancras, London in 1896. In 1911, a 14 year old living at The White House, Marley Lane, Battle, Sussex with her parents, 48 year old Henry and 38 year old Lillian, and younger sister 12 year old Catherine, born at Nice, France. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1923-1924 from Red Lodge, Aldeburgh but does not seem to have exhibited. As a 27 year old artist, she sailed on the 'Orvieto' on 28 March 1924 for Melbourne, Australia but returned to England and married at Lewisham, London in 1926, James S. Bayly. As Gertrude Jane Helen Bayly, she died at Ipswich in 1986.
