JERVIS-WHITE-JERVIS, Herbert
Herbert Jervis-White-Jervis was born at Marylebone, London on 6 August 1858, son of Henry Jervis-White-Jervis (March 1825-22 September 1881), a colonel in the army and MP for Harwich, Essex, and his wife Lucy Cobbold (18 October 1828-22 February 1916), daughter of John Chevalier Cobbold (1797-1882), MP for Ipswich, who married at Ipswich on 14 June 1855, their Suffolk home in 1881 was Cliff House, Cobbold Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk. Herbert was educated at Brentwood Grammar School and at Caius College, Cambridge and took up law. He married at Finchingfield Parish Church, Essex on 14 December 1893, Beatrice Georgiana Ruggles-Brise (1866-3 March 1939), daughter of Sir Samuel Ruggles-Brise of Spain's Hall, Finchingfield, Essex. A partner in the Ipswich firm of bankers, Bacon, Cobbold and Tollemache and in 1901, Herbert was a 42-year-old banker, living at Freston House, near Ipswich with his 35-year-old wife Beatrice and their four daughters, Audrey 5, Beatrice Georgina 2 and newborn twins Daphne Marian and Violet Lucy, and had a retinue of eight indoor servants. A Life Member of the Ipswich Art Club from 1911 until his death and a one-time president of the Club but does not seem to have exhibited. His sister was Mary Isabel Jervis-White-Jervis. Herbert Jervis-White-Jervis died at Freston House, near Ipswich on 29 November 1934.
