JONES, Howard Edward

Howard Edward Jones was born at Walmer, Deal, Kent on 3 September 1884, son of John Edward Jones, a sergeant in the Royal Marines, and his wife Marian Kate née Levett, who married at Portsea Island, Hampshire in 1883. In 1891, Howard was a 6-year-old, living at 1 Myrtle Cottage, Canada Road, Walmer, with his parents, 33-year-old John and 32-year-old Marian and a newly born sibling, Reginald. Howard married at Marylebone, London in 1910, Rosa Zieman Smith (24 August 1881-1966) and in 1911, a 26 year old estate clerk, living at 36 Jerningham Road, Southeast London with his 29-year-old wife Rosa, who was born at Margate, Kent. In 1939, a civil servant, living at Byways, Royal Hospital School, Holbrook, Ipswich with his wife Rosa and son Lance Corp. Howard Reginald Jones (15 May 1916-1996). An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1947-1951 but had exhibited from Rosewood, Cowley Road, Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1946 an oil, 'The Boat on the Hill' and a watercolour 'Going Down on the Flood Tide' but does not seem to have exhibited again. Howard Edward Jones was of 48 Clapgate Lane, Ipswich when he died at Ipswich and East Suffolk Hospital on 12 October 1952, aged 68.
