SEARLE, Ethel Naumai

1909 - 2004

As Ethel Naumai Shepherd, she was born on 23 May 1909. She married in New Zealand on 18 May 1935, Desmond Almeric Searle (1903-1994) and painted under the name of Toni Searle. As Mrs E. N. Searle, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1973-1974 and as Toni Searle she exhibited oil paintings from The Old Rectory, Clopton, Woodbridge in 1972 'Basket of Roses', 'Still Life with Fruit', in 1973 'Spring Flowers', 'Wallflowers in a Copper Jug' and 'Timothy's Toys' and in 1974 'Christmas Roses' and 'Still Life'. Her husband was born at Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire on 27 March and baptised on 18 June 1903 and in 1911 was living at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire and died at Woodbridge, Suffolk in July 1994. Ethel, who lived at Flat 37, Suffolk Place, Woodbridge, died at Woodbridge in 2004.
