SEARLE, Toni

1909 - 2004

As Ethel Naumai Shepherd, she was born on 23 May 1909. She married in New Zealand on 18 May 1935, Desmond Almeric Searle (27 March 1903-July 1994) and painted under the name of Toni Searle. As Mrs E. N. Searle, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1973-1974 and as Toni Searle, in 1972 she exhibited oil paintings from The Old Rectory, Clopton, Woodbridge, 'Basket of Roses', 'Still Life with Fruit', in 1973 'Spring Flowers', 'Wallflowers in a Copper Jug' and 'Timothy's Toys' and in 1974 'Christmas Roses' and 'Still Life'. Her husband, who was born at Ryde, Isle of Wight, Hampshire on 27 March 1903 and in 1911 was living at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, died at Woodbridge, Suffolk in July 1994. Ethel Naumai Searle died at her home at Flat 37, Suffolk Place, Woodbridge on 9 July 2004.
