STRAHAN, Fanny Evelyn Margaret

1851 - 1926

As Fanny Evelyn Margaret Roscoe, she was born at Great Boughton, Cheshire in 1851, daughter of Edward Henry Roscoe, gentleman, of Chester, and his wife, Fanny Catherine née Parry, who married at Liverpool in 1846. She married on 25 August 1886 the noted geologist Aubrey Strahan (20 April 1852-4 March 1928), from 1919 Sir Aubrey, and they had one son William Roscoe Strahan (born 27 February 1890), a solicitor. They lived at 12 Marlowes Road, Kensington, London from 1888 until her husband retired in July 1920 when they moved to Fairfield House, near Reading. As Mrs Aubrey Strahan, a member of the Ipswich Art Club in 1913 when she exhibited from 61 Ashburnham Road, Bedford six watercolours 'The Fishing Pool', 'Sunset', 'The Mill House', 'Summer on the Ouse', 'A Lover's Path' and 'Willows'. She died in the Bradfield district of Berkshire in 1926, aged 74.
