ADAMS, Theresa Sophia
Theresa Sophia Adams was baptised at Rendlesham, Suffolk on 19 March 1824, daughter of Edward Adams and his wife Sarah née Ringe. In 1851, Theresa was a 27-year-old governess, in the home of John Harris Heal, bedding manufacturer, at 68 Euston Square, St Pancras, London when one of her charges was ten-year-old Alice Heal, the mother of Harry Percy Adams. In 1861, Theresa was a 37-year-old artist, living at Brown Street, Old Newton, Suffolk, the home of her 72-year-old father Edward and in 1871, living at the same address when the house was in the possession her younger brother Samuel, a farmer. By 1881, a teacher of drawing and a music teacher, living at 81 Victoria Street, Ipswich the home of her brother-in-law William Norman. An exhibitor at the Ipswich Fine Art Club in 1883 from 81 Victoria Street, Ipswich, a watercolour 'At Rushmere, near Ipswich' and was a member 1887-1890 exhibiting in 1887 'Bramford, from Whitton Leas' and in 1888 'On the Orwell, Ipswich'. Theresa Sophia Adams died at 50 London Road, Ipswich in December 1890 and was buried at St Mary’s church, Old Newton, Suffolk on 18 December 1890, aged 67, she was unmarried.
