CLARK, Caroline McAdam

Caroline McAdam Clark was born in London on 18 January 1947, daughter of James McAdam Clark (13 December 1916-15 October 1995), M.C., C.V.O., a diplomat, and his wife Denise Therese née Du Fournier (10 January 1915-9 January 1994), a barrister, who married in Paris in 1947. Caroline graduated with an M.A. from Edinburgh College of Art and Edinburgh University 1965-1970, since when she has pursued a career an artist. She has also worked as book illustrator, printmaker and muralist, and an occasional visiting lecturer at the University of East London also teaching History of Art in a London day school. Caroline married at Westminster, London in 1973, Piers Anthony Stowell Feetham and is a co-director at Feetham Gallery in London which they closed after forty years in 2022, and together with her husband has co-authored 'The Art of Framing' (1997) and has an ongoing project making video-portraits of several women British painters. Her work, including several mural paintings and furniture that she has designed and decorated, are included in several private collections in England, Italy, France, and the USA as well as several paintings and drawings in the collections of the West Duetsches Landesbank, Archant Group & Firmdale Hotels. A member of the Royal Society of British Artists and an associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society she has exhibited at Highgate Fine Art; Chappel Galleries, Essex; Messum Fine Art in London; Thompson's Gallery, Aldeburgh and elsewhere. She lives and works both in London and in Suffolk with a Suffolk studio at Hill Lodge, Church Walk, Aldeburgh and contributed a work to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2013 'The Blue Room'.
