Jonathan Keep

Born at Johannesburg in 1958 and grew up in South Africa. Educated at the University of Natal 1976-1979 obtaining his BA (Hons) Fine Art degree. Ater working in a number of studios and a period of teaching, in 1986 he came to England and settled in Suffolk. He then attended the Royal College of Art, London 19992002 for his MA where his postgraduate show was awarded overall prize-winner of the Lattice Group Awards and was subsequently awarded a Wood Foundation Graduate Arts Bursary. Jonathan's work has been exhibited widely including at Collect in the Victoria and Albert Museum; Network Europe at the Museum of International Ceramic Art, Denmark; Unexpected Too at Sotheby's in New York; the Carlin gallery, Paris; Puls gallery, Brussels and Sarah Myerscough Fine Art, London. In an artists advisory role, was involved in the Working Party for the Centre for the Visual Arts, Bury St Edmund's and on the steering committee of the Visual Arts Marketing & Business Development Scheme in Suffolk. He sat on the Advisory Panel of the Hub Arts Centre in North Kesteven and assisted in an advisory capacity to Platform 5, a professional development program for emerging artists in the eastern region. He has exhibited his pottery at Eastern Arts Touring Exhibition at Norwich, Ipswich and Koblenz 1990; 'Cultural Connections', Bury St Edmunds Art Gallery 1995; 'On The Border', Suffolk and Essex open, Minories Colchester 1998; 'Five Alive', Wolsey Art Gallery, Ipswich 2002 also at many other shows in the U.K. and abroad. His studio is at 31 Leiston Road, Coldfair Green, Knodishall, Saxmundham, Suffolk and he is currently an Independant Artist & Variable hours Lecturer at University College Suffolk. www.keep-art.co.uk
