John Rixon

Born at Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire on 16 May 1954, son of Peter Ernest Rixon and his wife Blanche née Felton, who married at Bishops Stortford in 1951. Educated at Framlingham College 1965 and at Birmingham City University. An art school lecturer for some 20 years, specialising in colour theory and composition and since 2009 part time lecturer in Further Education, specialising in Moving Image, Digital Art & Design and Visual Studies at Suffolk New College and, whilst working at college, he also practised as a collage artist and designer. Amukidi aka John Rixon is a relative newcomer to the field of visuals making films and curates shows and is a regular Video Jockey (VJ) for the Big Chill and has many sets under his belt, including: Norman Jay, Gilles Peterson, Tom Middleton, Fred Deakin, Lol Hammond, Roger Eno and Pete Lawrence and Amukidi's
background is firmly rooted in the fine-art area. His own work focuses on ambient and electronica, with the imagery emerging from complex video collages or 'motion paintings' as he now regards them. His bold use of colour and composition stems from many years of studying and teaching colour theory. He married at Ipswich in 1978, Sarah A. Amos and they have lived at Ipswich for many years.
