Helen Bartholomew

Born at Watford, Hertfordshire in 1965, her mother's maiden name was Carnochan. Since childhood, Helen has had a strong interest in colour, shape, line and form and enjoyed drawing and painting but her serious interest in painting began in 1996, when she started private tutelage with Kenneth Back (1944-2002), with whom she studied until his death, who taught her the tradition of the British School of painting but encouraged his students to follow their own unique path thus maintaining their integrity and individuality. Helen then studied at University of East Anglia followed by private tuition from Charlotte Stewart [q.v.]. Helen works in oil, graphite and occasionally collage and is constantly changing and developing and therefore quite diverse, her work can range from figurative to abstract, from traditional to the bizarre and all degrees between.
