Lowestoft Art Circle on a visit to the Tate Gallery

Born at 1 Naomi House, Clarkson Road, Oulton Broad, Suffolk in 1935, son of Peter W. Balder (1892-1948) marine fitter & general engineer, and his wife Rosabella née Pitchers (1899-1996), who married at Mutford, Suffolk in 1920. His early school years were spent as an evacuee in Derbyshire and in Norfolk, after which his educations continued in Lowestoft. His interest in art commenced only when an art club was being formed at Oulton Broad which he joined in 1976 and continued as a member of Oulton Broad Art Circle, being elected Chairman, also joining the Lowestoft Art Group about 1980 also becoming Chairman and later President, and was also a member of the Beccles Society of Artists. He paints mainly at home and in watercolour and he runs a small class in Oulton Broad. He exhibit frequently.
