CHAMBERS, Derek H

Born at Ilford, Essex in 1937, son of Charles H. Chambers and his wife Dorothy R. née Petty, who married at Ilford in 1935. In 1952 he started work as a messenger in a London advertising agency and ten years later formed a partnership as a creative consultant in Mayfair. In 1977 he opened a new graphic design partnership in Soho which lasted until 1994 when he moved to Aldeburgh, Suffolk, concentrating on drawing and painting. He has an established reputation as a fine painter and printmaker, winner of the Royal Watercolour Society-1st Prize in 2008, and has also exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition; the Mall Galleries; The Federation of British Artists; New English Art Club; Discerning Eye, Singer & Friedlander; Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours; National Print & Originals; Royal Society of Marine Artists; Royal Society Of Portrait Painters; Eastern Open-Prizewinn 2003, and numerous solo and shared exhibitions including several one-man shows in Aldeburgh. His work can be seen at Aldeburgh Contemporary Arts Gallery. A member of the Sudbourne Printmakers and has a studio at 8 South Entrance, Saxmundham, Suffolk.
