CUTTING, Harry Frank

1865 - 1955

Harry Frank Cutting, was born at Beccles, Suffolk on 9 October 1865, son of Henry William Cutting, a solicitor’s clerk, and his wife Anne Elizabeth née Clarke, who married at Beccles in 1865. In 1871, a 5 year old, living at Station Road, Beccles with his parents, 30 year old Henry and 27 year old Anne. A painter and etcher who exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists in 1896 from Beccles, Suffolk and in 1899 from Wivenhoe, Essex. He married at Marylebone, London in 1898, Anne Eliza Rowe (3 June 1865-1948) and in 1901, a 35 year old artist living at Rectory Cottage, Rectory Road, Wivenhoe with his 35 year old wife, born Thetford, Norfolk. By 1911, they had returned to Beccles, a 45 year old ‘painter artist’ at 5 London Road, with his wife and widowed mother. In 1939, a retired portrait artist, living at 5 London Road, Beccles with his wife Anna, who died at Beccles in 1948, aged 82 and Harry died at Coralette, Park Drive, Worlingham, near Beccles on 10 January 1955, aged 89. His oil painting 'Distant Thoughts' signed & dated 1891 (53cm x 43cm) was sold at auction on 19 April 1990.
