WILKIN, Colin Keith

1971 - ?

Born in the Colchester district of Essex in 1971, son of Barry K. Wilkin and his wife Carol née James, who married at Halstead, Essex in 1970. Colin studied at Brighton University 1992–1994 for his BA and then gained his MA at the Royal College of Art 1994–1996. Colin lives and works near Sudbury on the Suffolk/Essex border and gains his inspiration from the surrounding landscape and how it has been affected by man’s interventions past and present. His watercolour paintings are slightly geometric and offer an interesting view of the landscape that he finds so inspirational. Colin’s introduction to lithography with the Curwen Studio sell-out edition ‘Three Corner Wood’ has given him a different approach to creating an image, which he found refreshing. He has had several solo exhibitions in East Anglia, including in 2003 at the Britten-Pears Library during the Aldeburgh Festival and in 2005 at The Fry Art Gallery in Saffron Walden, Gainsborough's House, Sudbury and the Curwen & New Academy Gallery
