LATHAM, Bertha Mabel

1871 - 1930

Born at Paddington, London in 1871, eldest child of Philip Arderne Latham, secretary of public companies, and his wife Emily Mary née Bennett, who married at Marylebone, London in 1869. In 1891, a 19 year old living at Oakleigh, Calmington Road, Twyford Abbey, Ealing, Middlesex with her parents, 48 year old Philip and 48 year old Emily, and her four siblings. A member of the Ipswich Fine Art Club 1887-1889 and exhibited from Primrose Hill Studios, Fitzroy Road, Belgravia, London in 1887 'A Portrait'. She married at Brentford, Middlesex in 1896, Lieut. John Manners-Smith (1864-1920), who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1891 and retired as a Lieut Col, they had one daughter, Sylvia [Northcote]. Bertha died at Lutterworth, Leicestershire in 1930, aged 59.
