PEARSE, Edith Emma
Edith Emma Pearse was born at Plymouth, Devon on 10 October 1874 and baptised at Christ Church, Plymouth on 4 November 1874, second daughter of Isaac Pearse (11 October 1843-9 March 1929), a railway canvasser, and his wife Rhoda Maria née Payne (1851-23 March 1935), who married at the parish church, Flore, Northampton on 20 June 1872. In 1881, Edith was a 6-year-old, living at 6 Caroline Place, East Stonehouse, Devon with her parents, 37-year-old Isaac and 30-year-old Rhoda, with three sibling sisters, Julia Minnie 7, Rhoda Alice 5 and Lucy Susanna 5. In 1911, a 36-year-old 'assistant to her father', who was then an insurance manager, living at Edgecote, 19 Caroline Place, East Stonehouse, Devon with her parents, 67-year-old Isaac and 60-year-old Rhoda, with five of her six surviving of eight siblings. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1919-1924 and exhibited from Edgecote, 19 Caroline Place, East Stonehouse in 1919, 'A Peep from a Cornish Coast' and 'Cawsand Beach at Low Tide' which seem to have been her only exhibits. In 1939, a clerk in an insurance office, still living at 19 Caroline Place, Plymouth with two of her unmarried siblings, Lucy Susanna (22 September 1878-14 October 1953) and Isaac Courtney Payne (24 February 1882-27 March 1966). Edith Emma Pearse was of Nester, Dean Hill, Plymstock, Devon when she died at 14 Dean Park Road, Plymstock on 3 August 1964, aged 89, she was unmarried.
