BAYLEY, Margaret Bell
Margaret Bell Bayley was born at Hammersmith, London on 18 May 1887, youngest of the four children of Frederick Thomas Bayley (1850-4 March 1928), a timber merchant, and his wife Matilda Mercy Shepherd (1858-4 March 1924) eldest daughter of John James Shepherd, who married at St Ann's Wandsworth, London on 16 June 1878. In 1901, Margaret was a 13-year-old, living at 9 Arlington Park Gardens, Chiswick, Middlesex with her parents, 50-year-old Frederick and 42-year-old Matilda with three siblings, Katherine Matilda 22, Constance Frederica 20 and Frederick William 19, but by 1911 they had moved to 103 Gordon Road, West Ealing, Middlesex. Margaret married at Woolwich, London in 1928, Percy Price (13 July 1870-6 November 1952), a schoolmaster. A miniature painter who exhibited at the Royal Academy also exhibiting at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours 1920-1935 from London 1920 and 1929, Clacton-on-Sea, Essex 1923, and Eastbourne 1933. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1923-1926 and exhibited from 'The Waverley', Clacton-on-Sea, Essex in 1923 a watercolour 'Bluebells in Kew Gardens' and a case of five miniatures 'Babs, Mrs Bayley, HRH The Duchess of York, Abraham Lincoln and Mr Matheson Lang' and she also exhibited at the Royal Society of Miniature Painters at the Royal Institute Galleries, Piccadilly, London in 1924, the miniature of the Duchess of York and the one of Mr Matheson Lang. In 1939 they were living at The Gables, 123 Milton Road, Eastbourne. Margaret Bell Price died at 1 Baldwin Avenue, Eastbourne, Sussex on 25 December 1963, aged 75.
