Kim Edwards

Kim Edwards studied on a foundation course in Art & Design at Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1980 and in 1984 obtained a B.A. (hons) Fine Art degree from Sunderland College of Art. After graduation she moved to Leeds and had a riverside studio with Leeds Art Space Society, where she held a solo show at St Paul’s Art Gallery. Whilst in Leeds was also an active member at The Pavilion Photography Centre, which provided exhibition space, free access workshops and conference facilities, specifically for women. A professional artist painting in a wide variety of mediums on canvas, board and found objects, who has also exhibited in the Northeast and in London. In 1992 she moved to Otley, Yorkshire continuing to paint with mixed media and watercolour, selling work through several galleries in Yorkshire and in 2007 joined an artist led group that runs a program of quarterly shows at The Gallery Upstairs based in Grassington, North Yorkshire. After attending several workshops at the Handprint Studio and attending an etching course at No 6 Studio Pateley Bridge she purchased a small press and now etches aluminium and makes collagraphs. In November 2009, she moved to Eastways, Back Road, Middleton, Suffolk, a coastal area where she had lived as a small child and in 2019 moved to Badingham also in Suffolk where she has a purpose-built studio. She has exhibited widely including from Eastways, Middleton in 2012 an etched aluminium and woodcut work 'Minsmere I' also showing locally at Snape Maltings Galleries; Peter Pears Gallery, Aldeburgh; Showcase Bury St Edmunds & Open Studio; The Cut Halesworth; Rougham Barns, Bury St Edmunds and elsewhere including Fractal Press Gallery Grassington, North Yorkshire; Leeds City Art Gallery and has participated in the Suffolk Open Studios. Kim donated a work to the 'Westhall Secret Postcard Auction' in 2012 'The Larks they Sang Melodious' and in 2013 a print & coloured wash 'Lepus Europaeus'.
