SMITH, John Edward
John Edward Smith was born at Melville Lodge, Tuddenham Road, Ipswich on 4 May 1899, son of Arthur John Smith (1862-28 February 1947), a stationer as Smiths Suitall in the Butter Market, Ipswich, and his wife Florence Elizabeth née Croft (5 April 1873-2 June 1934), who married at St Lawrence Church, Ipswich on 20 July 1894. In 1939, John Smith was an unmarried stationer, living at 48 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich with his widowed father. As John E. Smith, a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1942-1945 and exhibited from 94 Severn Road, Ipswich in 1943, four works 'Autumn', 'Cottage at Wherstead', 'Bluebells, Bridge Wood' and 'Child Study' and in 1945 'Buffen's Holt, Buckingham'. John Edward Smith was of 48 Tuddenham Road, Ipswich when he died at the Ipswich & East Suffolk Hospital on 13 August 1956.
