MacKINNON, Sylvia Joan

1883 - 1973

As Sylvia Robinson, she was born at Cranford Hall, Kettering, Northamptonshire on 3 May 1883, daughter of the local rector Revd Sir Frederick Laud Robibson, 9th Bart. (1843-1893) and his wife Madeleine Caroline née Sartoris, who married at Cranford in 1870. Sylvia married at Westminster in 1903, Lt Col Charles Edward Bagnall, M.P. (1862-1923) and they had one son Charles Frederick Rex Bagnall (1904-1993). She married secondly at Fulham in 1925, Major Archibald Donald MacKinnon (1863-1937), a medical practitioner, and they lived at Hove, Sussex. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1943-1951 but exhibited in 1941 'View from the Studio Window, Benton End', in 1942 'Dedham Church from my Studio Window' and 'The Haywain, Dedham, from my Window', in 1943 three oils 'Portrait of an Old Man', 'Mrs Hill' and 'Mrs Bagnall' and exhibiting in 1945 from Octogan House, Dedham, Essex two paintings, 'Old Fred' and a 'Still Life' and in 1946 an oil 'Purple and Yellow Tulips and a watercolour 'Landscape' but does not seem to exhibited further. She died at Hove, Sussex in 1973.
