SAMPSON, Janet

1896 - 1968

As Janet Hubbard she was born at Bournemouth, Hampshire on 31 January 1896, daughter of Revd Cyril Egerton Hubbard and his wife Agnes Mary née Scott, who married at West Ham, London in 1881. In 1901, a 5 year old living at New Lodge, Hartfield, Sussex with her parents, 45 year old Cyril and 38 year old Agnes, with five siblings. She married at Uxbridge, London in 1916, Samuel John Marton Sampson (11 August 1883-1961), a solicitor. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club exhibiting in 1934 from South Lee, Nowton Road, Bury St Edmunds, two watercolours 'Saint Paul, Bury St Edmund's' and 'The Little Ouse, near Lakenheath'. In 1939 she was living at South Lea, Nowton Road, Bury St Edmunds, with her husband and servants. She was still living in Bury St Edmund's when her husband died in 1961 but she died at Hammersmith, London in 1968, aged 72.
