THORP, Elizabeth Margaret

As Elizabeth Margaret Schmidt De Moraville, she was born at Marylebone, London on 29 April 1906, eldest child of John Maximilian Schmidt De Moravile and his wife Ilma Charlotte Olga née Behrend (2 March 1872-1947), who married at London City in 1905 and in 1939 Olga was a widow living at Frethorne Hpuse, Wantage, Berkshire. As Elizabeth M. De Moraville, she married at Bradfield, Berkshire in 1928, Sydney A. Thorp (3 January 1898-1967), who died at Deben district of Suffolk. In 1939 she was living at The Grove, Thornbury, Gloucestershire with her husband Sydney, an assistant to Gloucester Territorial Army. An artist in oil and a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1949-1964[sic] and exhibited from Holton Hall, The Street, Holton, near Halesworth, Suffolk in 1949 'Fruit and Wine', in 1950 'Still Life' followed by two in 1951 'Still Life with Pomegranates' and 'Old Studios, Mousehole', in 1952 'Still Life with Fish' and 'A Cornish Cove' and in 1958 two 'Still Life 1957' and 'Ramatuelle, South of France'. A regular exhibitor up until her death. She died at Holborn, London in 1959, aged 53.
