1928 - 1994

Penelope Anne Pipe was born at Elton Park House, Sproughton, Ipswich on 15 August 1928, daughter of John Clifford Pipe (26 April 1890-26 May 1968), a partner in the Ipswich firm of Limmer & Pipe, provision merchants, and his wife Vida Evelyn née Hammond (14 September 1910-19 April 2003), who married at St Martin's, London in 1927 but they were divorced on 30 October 1933 because of his wife's adultery with Frank Neale Turner. John married again, in London in 1934, Sheila Frances Gwynne-Furley (20 June 1908-1989) and had further issue, and Vida married secondly at Westminster, London in 1935, Frank Neale Turner (19 July 1898-8 May 1978), a chocolate manufacturer, and had further issue. In 1939 John and Sheila and family were living at Elton Park House, Sproughton, Ipswich. Penelope studied at the Royal Academy Schools and in 1950 one of her paintings, No. 93, was submitted for her Rome scholarship from the Royal Society of British Artists. Penelope was a member of the Ipswich Art Club 1949-1962, and as Miss Penelope Pipe, exhibited from Elton Park House, Ipswich in 1949 three oil paintings, 'A Farm in Suffolk', 'Portrait' and 'Beechwater, Chantry Park', in 1950 two paintings 'Portrait of an Old Man' and 'A Street Scene', in 1951 'Autumn in Richmond Park' and 'David', and in 1958 from 21 Platts Lane, London NW3, three oils 'Roses', 'Autumn Birches' and 'The Thames at Hurley' and the following year from 359a Finchley Road, London NW3 two oil paintings 'A Landscape near Turville, Buckingham' and 'The River Gipping, near Ipswich' which seem to have been her last showing at Ipswich, she also exhibited at the Royal Academy. She married at Ipswich in 1957, Jan Henri Honore Delanghe (16 November 1923-1 August 2005) and they later moved to London. Penelope Anne Delanghe died at 22 Park Road East, Twickenham, Middlesex on 24 July 1994. Her oil painting 'At the Kitchen Sink' was sold at auction in February 1991.
