FOWLER, Alice Levine

1861 - 1949

Alice Maud Levine Fowler, was born at Thatcham, Berkshire on 2 April 1861, daughter of George Campbell Fowler (1817-1883), post-captain in the Royal Navy, and his wife Catherine Elizabeth née Pocock (1825-1917), who married at Caversham, Berkshire on 18 September 1846. In 1881, a 20 year old, living at Crookham End House, Thatcham with her parents, 63 year old George and 55 year old Catherine, with six siblings, William James 33, Katherine Anne 30, George Merrick 28, Annie Sarah 27, Maud Emily 18 and Lilian Augusta 16, and they retained six indoor servants. Her father was buried at St Michael's Bray, Berkshire on 30 May 1883. In 1911, a 49 year old, still living at Crookham End House, with her widowed mother and two siblings. A member and exhibitor at the Norfolk & Norwich Art Circle in 1912 from Brimpton, Berkshire and an associate member of Ipswich Art Club in 1939. In 1939, on private means, living at Crookham End, Brimpton, near Reading, Berkshire with four unmarried Fowler siblings and a widowed sister-in-law. She died at 1 Highfield Avenue, Newbury, Berkshire on 11 November 1949, aged 88, she was unmarried.
