HOPKING, Mildred Marion
Mildred Marion Hopking was born at Hackney, London in 1877, daughter of George Hopking (1839-1 January 1919), a tea dealer of Watlington, Norfolk, and his second wife Mary Ann née Butterwick (1843-1926), who married at Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen, Norfolk on the 1 May 1873. George married his first wife Lucy Mary Eyre on the 20 April 1865, and she died in 1869 after having three daughters. In 1891, Mildred was a 13-year-old, living at Norfolk Road, Hackney with her parents, 52-year-old George and 47-year-old Marian, who were both born in Norfolk, with siblings Lucy Helen Eyre (1866-1944), Alice Mary (1867-1931), Frederick George 17, Edith Emily (born 1867), Frank (1876-1961) and Noël Hopking. Mildred married an Irish building contractor, Joseph P Parks (1854-19 June 1935), and in 1921 the married couple 66-year-old Joseph Parks and 43-year-old Mildred Parks were visiting their widowed mother 79-year-old Marian Hopking at 8 Fairholt Road, Stoke Newington, London also living there were Edith Emily Hopking 45 and Noel Hubert Hopking 38. As Mildred Hopking an honorary member of the Ipswich Art Club 1946-1951, exhibiting from Wenham Hill, Great Wenham, near Ipswich in 1950, two watercolours 'The Lamp Lighter' and 'Zephyr in the Grass' and in 1951 'When Winter Comes'. In 1937 her brother Frederick George Hopking, a marine underwriter, who was born at Hackney on 11 March 1874 was living at Wenham Hill and sold the contents of Wenham Hill by auction in 1962 and was of Sproughton Manor, Ipswich when he died on 13 June 1965. Joseph Parks died at Fair Green, Dundalk, co Louth on 19 June 1935 and Mildred Marion Parks died at The Gables Nursing Home, Ifield Green, Crawley, Surrey on 23 January 1975.
