HASTINGS, Kathleen
As Kathleen Hatton, she was born at 12 Hencott Road, Kidderminster, Worcestershire on 22 April 1884, daughter of George Hatton (1847-2 July 1933), an iron & tinplate manufacturer, and his wife Louisa Eleanor née Brinton (26 August 1852-12 November 1939), who married at St George's Church, Kidderminster, Worcestershire on 11 April 1874. Kathleen married at the parish church Brierley Hill, Stourbridge, Shropshire on 21 July 1909, Percy Hastings, a major in the Queen's Royal West Regiment and in 1911 they were living at London Road Tonbridge Kent. Her husband was killed in action at Bethancourt, France on 2 September 1914, aged 41. In 1939, Kathleen Hastings was a widow and a civil clerk employed by the R.A., living at The Red House, Tong, Shifnal, Shropshire. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1951-1972 and exhibited from The Grotto, Great Bealings, Ipswich in 1951, three oil paintings 'Sybil', 'Jane' and 'Sarah', in 1952 a further three 'The Orchard', 'The Restuarant' and 'Miss Violet Hasted', in 1953 'The Sea Front' and 'The Paddlers' and in 1961 'Julienne' and 'Andrew'. In 1962 she exhibited from 'The Moorings, Cumberland Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk two oils, 'Mr. D. F. Denny' and 'Miss Victoria Longe' and exhibited two to four pictures every year until her death. Kathleen Hastings died at Sutherland House, 105 The Thoroughfare, Woodbridge on 1 January 1978, she had no issue.
