BROWN, Madeline Lucretia

1896 - 1976

As Madeline Lucretia Turner, she was born at Chesterton, Cambridge on 16 July 1896, eldest of the three children of Hubert Edward Turner, an accountant, and his wife Edith Lucretia née Horspool, who married at Chesterton in 1894. In 1911, a 14 year old student, living at 89 De Freville Avenue, Chesterton with her parents, 40 year old Hubert and 40 year old Edith, with two siblings, Donald Hubert 11 and Mildred Edith 9. She married at Chesterton in 1922, Harold Ethelwald Brown (19 June 1882-26 November 1960), future assistant master at Framlingham College, Suffolk and painted under the name of Mrs M. L. Brown. In 1939, they were living at 1 Pembroke Road, Framlingham, Suffolk. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1954-1967 and exhibited from Strawberry Hill, Pembroke Road, Framlingham, Suffolk in 1954, two oil paintings 'Reflection' and 'Flowers' but does not seem to have exhibited again. She lived at Swan Meadow, Westerfield, Ipswich and was last seen alive on 16th and her body was found at her home on 17th February 1976.
