BROWN, Madeline Lucretia

1896 - 1976

As Madeline Lucretia Turner, she was born at Chesterton, Cambridge on 16 July 1896, eldest of the three children of Hubert Edward Turner, an accountant, and his wife Edith Lucretia née Horspool, who married at Chesterton in 1894. In 1911 a 14 year old student living at 89 De Freville Avenue, Chesterton with her parents, 40 year old Hubert and 40 year old Edith, with two siblings. She married at Chesterton in 1922, Harold Ethelwald Brown (19 June 1882-1960), future assistant master at Framlingham College, Suffolk and painted under the name of Mrs M. L. Brown. In 1939 they were living at 1 Pembroke Road, Framlingham, Suffolk. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1954-1967 and exhibited from Strawberry Hill, Pembroke Road, Framlingham, Suffolk in 1954 two oil paintings 'Reflection' and 'Flowers' but does not seem to have exhibited again. She died in the Deben district of Suffolk in 1976.
