STORER, John
John Storer was born at 13 Lydon Road, Clapham, London on 20 September 1891, only son of John Storer (1858-1909), a musical composer & critic, and his wife Edith Alberta née Chambers (15 June 1861-12 March 1956), who married at Scarborough, Yorkshire on 21 February 1884. In 1901, young John was a 9-year-old, living at Clapham with his parents, 42-year-old John and 38-year-old Edith, with five sibling sisters, Hilda Gladys 15, Valerie 14, Mary Leonie 13, Ethelreda 11 and Doris Frances 6 but by 1911 they had moved to 443 Glossop Road, Sheffield, Ecclesall, Yorkshire where young John was a clerk in a steel works. An associate member of the Ipswich Art Club 1959-1971 and exhibited from 22 Grove Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1959, two watercolours 'In April Mood' and 'Martlesham Creek', two further watercolours in 1960 'River Deben at Wickham Market' and 'Memory of an Elm', showing three oils in 1961 and two in each of 1962, 1963 and 1964 two more 'Harvest Scene (Belstead Hall Farm)' and 'Martlesham Woods'. He exhibited two watercolours in 1967 'River Scene, Woodbridge' and 'Sunshine and Wind' and his last exhibit was in 1970 when he displayed a watercolour 'A Haywain in Flatford Meadow'. John Storer died at New Lodge, Dykes Chase, Maldon, Essex on 1 November 1972.
