CULLUM, John Thomas

1838 - 1913

Born at Bungay, Suffolk in 1838, eldest child of Thomas Cullum, a master carpenter, and his wife Emma, née Winter (1818-1853), who was the sister of Cornelius Winter [q.v.], who married at Bungay on 26 April 1836. In 1851, a 12 year old living at Bridge Street, Loddon, Norfolk with his parents, 36 year old Thomas and 37 year old Emma, with four siblings and ten years later still at Loddon being described as an heraldic artist. He married in the Wangford district of Suffolk in 1865, Mary Elizabeth Dann and in 1881 a 42 year old decorative artist, living at 36 Haberdasher Street, Shoreditch, London with his 45 year old wife Emma, born Denton, Norfolk. In 1896 recorded as a 'bamboo furniture manufactures at 217 Hackney Road, N.E. but by 1901 a 62 year old artist & photographer living at 203 Union Street, Tormoham, Devon with his 65 year old wife and he died in Devon in 1913, aged 74.
