JONES, Barbara
As Barbara Linford, she was born at Peterborough on 3 July 1913, daughter of George Linford (1883-11 November 1935), a grocer's shop assistant, and his wife Victoria Ethel née Baker (25 June 1887-1952), who married at Henstead, Norfolk in 1911 and both died at Ipswich. In 1921 George, now a grocery shop manager, and his wife were living at 2 Mafeking Terrace, Field Terrace Road, Exning, Suffolk with seven-year-old Barbara and her six-year-old sister Winifred Hilda, born at Newmarket. Barbara married at Ipswich in 1937 Charles Montagu Jones (19 July 1913-9 November 1986), a factory manager's ledger clerk, and in 1939, they were living at 21 Crofton Road, Ipswich and Barbara painted under the name of Barbara Jones. A member of the Ipswich Art Club from 1969 and exhibited from 21 Crofton Road, Ipswich in 1973, two watercolours 'Farm at Bucklesham' and 'Reed Beds, Melton' and was a regular exhibitor, exhibiting in 1977 two pictures 'The Finn at Little Bealings' and 'View from Playford Bridge' and in 1980 three pictures 'Moated Farmhouse', 'Sheildaig Wester Ross' and 'Martlesham Woods'. Barbara Jones died at Ipswich in 1996.
