JENKINS, Dorothy Coxeter

1909 - 1985

As Dorothy Coxeter Pearce, she was born at 72 Lisvane Street, Cardiff, Glamorganshire on 22 September 1909, second of the three daughters and an only son of Albert Allen Pearce (1871-1948), an artificial limb maker, and his wife Emily née Ayliffe (1876-1950), who married at Cardiff in 1904, her grandmother's maiden name was Coxeter. In 1911, a one year old living at Lisvane Street, Cardiff with her parents, 39 year old Albert and 34 year old Emily, with her sibling sister, three year old Muriel. She married at Cardiff in 1935, Clifford George Jenkins (27 November 1907-1986). In 1939 she was living at 189 Wentlooe Road, Cardiff with her husband Clifford, a manager at a petrol distributor. An exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club from 134 Mill Lane, Felixstowe, Suffolk in 1977, 'The Secret Place' also exhibited one painting the following year and two in 1980 'Joyful Morning' and 'Apple Pickers'. She died at Ipswich on 24 June 1985.
