BRUCE, Nigel Macauley

1906 - 1998

Born in New Zealand on 6 February 1906 and came to England in 1926. He married at North Cotsold in 1940, Helen Holden (1905-1996), about which time he came to Suffolk. His painting is influenced by the French Impressionist School and has painted many local scenes and exhibited at New Gallery, Ipswich in 1965. A member of the Ipswich Art Club and exhibited from Little Grange, Hollesley, Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1979, three pictures 'Ragwort on the Heath', 'Lily Pond' and 'The Rhone at Arles' and three more the following year 'Fruit and Champagne', 'Tresco Abbey Gardens, Isles of Scilly' and 'Shingle Street' and was a regular exhibitor. His works also included 'The Old Mill House, Ufford', 'Letheringham Mill' and 'Alderton Church'. He died at Hollesley in February 1998.
