HAZEL, Moira

1949 - ?

As Moira Sage, she was born at Pontypridd, South Wales in 1949, daughter of Henry Thomas Sage and his wife Margorie née Elias, who married at Ploughley, Oxfordshire in 1948, Moira spent her childhood in Wales and in Hampshire. Educated at Dartington College of Arts and married at Winchester in 1979, William Y. Hazel and for the next 13 years a teacher and later an Art Advisory teacher for three years with BFES in Germany and after three years in Cyprus she moved to Suffolk. Moira loves to travel at home and abroad for inspiration and really enjoys the vibrant colours, light and brightness of the Mediterranean regions, or the fascination of fishing villages of Cornwall and she is now working with glass and using the glass fusion method and is enjoying this colourful versatile medium producing glass paintings, wall/window hangings and jewellery. As Moira Hazel she exhibits at Buckenham Gallery Southwold Suffolk; Taplin Gallery Woodbridge Suffolk and The Quay Gallery Blakeney Norfolk. A member of the Ipswich Art Society and exhibited from Hemplands, Church Road, Westhorpe, Stowmarket, Suffolk in 2006 an acrylic on canvas 'Way Over'.
